As a trauma surgeon during the Vietnam War, Dr. Sam Scheinberg saw how woefully inadequate splints of the 1960’s and ‘70s were and vowed to find a solution. The result was the SAM® Splint, a revolutionary rethinking of the design of splints, and the beginning of SAM Medical Products. Today, the SAM Splint is accepted as standard practice in the US military and is the most popular emergency splint in the world. The SAM Splint can be found on the battlefield and even aboard the Space Shuttle.
